S&G's classic album, "Bookends", marked Paul's and Art's emergence as both a brilliant creative force and one of their era's biggest-selling recording acts. "Bookends" is a brilliant production that captures the pleasures, tensions and fears of its era as vividly as any 1960's album. Simon's literate, emotionally complex songwriting is matched by the ambitious production, which elevates the fiery folk rockers."A Hazy Shade of Winter" and "Save the Life of My Child", the cinematic flights "America" and "Fakin' It", the intimate ballads "Old Friends" and "Bookends Theme" and the deceptively whimsical "Mrs. Robinson" and "At the Zoo". "The Sounds of Silence" can be heard in the background of "Save the Life Of My Child."

Art recorded hundreds of hours of conversations with old people at nursing homes and senior centers for the "Voices of Old People" on the Bookends album. Careful editing in the studio created an interwoven tapestry of old people and their fears. Among the many voices heard on this track is Art's uncle and aunt - "An old person without money is pathetic."

Pete Fornatale, music industry guru, wrote "The Making of Bookends," an insightful look at the collaboration of Art and Paul in the creation of one of the earliest theme albums "Bookends."
